Custom Hoodie Manufacturing FAQ for US Brands & Retailers
Hengyue Knitwear is an OEM/ODM knitwear factory in Ningbo, China, cutting and sewing fleece and French terry hoodies for apparel brands, retailers and promotional companies in the United States, Europe and Australia. Below we answer the questions US buyers ask most often about MOQ, sampling, lead times, shipping and customisation. What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Our MOQ is 200 pieces per colour for the Oversized Garment-Dyed Hoodie and 300 pieces per style for the French Terry Full-Zip Hoodie and the Heavyweight Fleece Pullover Hoodie. If your first order is smaller, contact us with your tech pack and target quantities — we will confirm what is workable for your programme.
How long does sampling take?
Sampling takes 7-10 days. We produce samples to your tech pack, and bulk production starts only after you approve the sample.
What is the bulk production lead time?
Lead time after sample approval is 35-45 days for the Oversized Garment-Dyed Hoodie, 30-40 days for the French Terry Full-Zip Hoodie, and 25-35 days for the Heavyweight Fleece Pullover Hoodie. Your exact ship date is confirmed on the order confirmation.
What customisation options do you offer?
We offer screen printing, embroidery, puff print and DTG (on the pullover), custom dye colours and puff print (on the garment-dyed hoodie), custom metal zipper pulls and woven labels (on the full-zip), plus private label packaging including woven labels, hangtags and polybags. In-house screen printing and embroidery are done under one roof; garment dyeing runs through a partner dye house in Ningbo.
Can you produce to my tech pack (OEM)?
Yes. OEM production to the buyer's tech pack is our core service. Send your tech pack with fabric weight, construction, colours, sizes and artwork, and we will quote with fabric, trims and decoration options matched to your spec.
Do you offer private label?
Yes. We apply your woven labels, hangtags and polybags so the hoodies arrive retail-ready for your brand or store programme.
What are your shipping terms to the US?
Standard terms are FOB Ningbo or FOB Shanghai. DDP (delivered duty paid) to the US is available on request. Tell us your delivery address and preferred term when you inquire and we will confirm the freight arrangement and cost.
What sizes can you produce?
The Oversized Garment-Dyed Hoodie runs S-XXL. The French Terry Full-Zip Hoodie and the Heavyweight Fleece Pullover Hoodie run XS-3XL. Size grading to your brand's measurement chart can be quoted from your tech pack.
What fabrics and weights do you work with?
Our current hoodie line covers 450 GSM 100% cotton fleece (garment dyed), 320 GSM 100% cotton French terry, and 400 GSM 80/20 cotton-polyester brushed fleece. If your programme needs a different fabric or GSM, send the spec and we will confirm availability.
How do you control quality?
Every sewing line runs inline inspection during production, and each order passes a final AQL 2.5 inspection before shipment. Bulk production only begins after your sample approval.
What is your monthly capacity?
Our 6,000 m² facility in Ningbo runs 8 sewing lines with about 150 workers, for a monthly capacity of roughly 80,000 hoodies — enough to support both launching brands and established replenishment programmes.
